An error occuredThe thing is, I have not modified any of my firewall settings. Spotify aside, there's no problem with any of my other applications that need an internet connection. Browsing works fine, using SSH works as usual, etc.
A firewall may be blocking your Internet connection (error 110). Additionally you could try to change the currently used proxy settings.
Temporarily disabling the firewall did not help either. Anyone else having the same problem?
Update:
ChrZZ kindly suggested in the comments that resetting my Spotify password should solved the problem. I visited http://www.spotify.com/en/password-reset/ and followed the instructions, and this solved the problem.
Are you also getting the "firewall may be blocking" error? Does resetting the password solve the problem for you too? Please let me know in the comments below.
Update 2:
In the comments Mr Anonymous suggests that all you need to do is to uncheck the "remember me" checkbox. Did this solve the problem for you?
Yes! I'm getting exactly the same error! It was working fine at work this afternoon; I come home and log on and I get the error...anyone got any clues?
ReplyDeletehi
DeleteBrowse to spotify.com, reset your password, and log on to the spotify client :)
ReplyDelete@ChrZZ: Yeah, resetting the password solved the problem. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteunticking the 'remember' box worked for me
ReplyDeleteworked for me thanks!
ReplyDeleteYeah you don't need to reset anything. Just untick the box and retype your password in the field.
ReplyDeleteUnticking the box worked for me too.
ReplyDeleteSame here...
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!
I had the same problem, and the same solution! thank you so much for this help!!
ReplyDeleteI just entered my password again into the client. Didn't uncheck anything.
ReplyDeletei must be the only one who retyping password, unchecking 'remember me' box, or changing my password hasn't solved this problem for :(

ReplyDeleteFinally got it after many tries. What worked for me was entering the usual proxy information for our firewall, re-typing the Spotify password, and unchecking the remember me box.
ReplyDeletenone of these solutions have worked for me and i am also now not being able to get onto the spotify website (every time i try to get onto the website the 'windows cannot display this weboage' page come up) either therefore i cannot change my password.

ReplyDeletethnaks it worked for me now tick off remember and retype password
ReplyDeleteI was able to log in, but the it was saying i was in offline mode, then said i had the 101 error. so i went online and downloaded the new spotify software, this did not work. My forewall is not bocking spotify (i got my network manager to check this for me) and I have tried all this advice (resetting passwords and unticking boxes etc).
ReplyDeleteIf i am honest i do not understand what a proxy is so am unsure how to reset it, can anybody give anymore advice about how to get my music back?
For me it worked if you re-type your password.
ReplyDeleteWhich means remove the letter, then type it in again, worked for me.
Very weird.
I had the same thing... I had to unblock spotify from my mcafee firewall, because when it updated it automatically blocked it again. Hope that helps someone.
ReplyDeleteI'm using spotify through Facebook and I reset my password, unchecked the remember my user id AND instead of typing in the userID that is a number I typed in my email address that's associated with Facebook and I was able to avoid getting the proxy/firewall error. THANK GOD!!! I love me some spotify.
ReplyDeletei keep getting the little proxy settings window too and cant figure out how to get past past it. help?
ReplyDeleteI got the 404 error message saying the firewall proxy settings are blocking it. I run mcAfee and allowed spotify all access through the firewall, unchecked the remember me box, retyped login and password still no access, just started spotify and its not looking too good for the program so far. if I edit the proxy settings what should I put in the boxes. Host:, Port:, username:, and Password:,
ReplyDeleteand my options for the proxy are HTTPS, socks4 and socks5, plus auto detect and no proxy. what do all these mean?
i am having the same problem someone please help!!!!
Delete2012 and wouldn't you think Spotify would have fixed these issues by now? Tried all "solutions" and none work, don't know what's going on (error 112). It was working previously and firewall had spotify as an exception. Any solutions?
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem and we seem to get it on the same day. One day later and I'm trying again. And nothing worked. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Nothing.
DeleteSolution: Fuck this app and look for something more efficient...
ReplyDeleteyeah, none of these things are helping. i took spotify off of my firewall exceptions list and put it back on as a program but when i took it off there were 2, i think it was letting in some kind of port. i don't know, can someome email me and help.
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem, error 112, c'mon guys, help me out here!!
ReplyDeleteHi everybody; Your computer may have come with McAfee as internet protection software. However this will expire at some point. Then you no longer have security but the program still messes with your computer. Try deleting McAfee (and use AVG or Windows free internet security). Worked for me.
ReplyDeleteI've unchecked the 'remember me' box, retyped my password, tried downloading it 3 times over, tried using firewall and it still comes up as error 101. HELP ME!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem with 101, has anyone solved it????
DeleteSame problem for me! Error 101 and nothing working HELP PLEASE
DeleteSame for me. Tried absolutely everything. Nothing works on Windows 7 with the Windows firewall turned on OR off.
Delete101 here aswell.. Help anyone?
DeleteNeither of these worked for me..
ReplyDeleteprobably is your antivirus firewall the one that is blocking your spotify account, go to your antivirus security center and in firewall settings you can turn off the spotify firewall and that's it...
DeleteError 101 keeps coming up! tried re setting my password, unchecking the 'remember me' box, allowed it through firewall...any ideas?
ReplyDeleteFor me the problem was with McAfee. Open the McAfee Security Center, then:
ReplyDeleteFirewall
Settings
Internet Connections for Programs
Find Spotify
Edit
Full Access
THANK YOU! That was so helpful.
Deletei think my problems with macafee, but my subscriptions ran out and i can't go onto the firewall settings, any ideas?!
DeleteThis worked for me, thank you!!:)
DeleteDidnt work :(
ReplyDeleteAll those things cannot work for me. It still says An error occured
ReplyDeleteA firewall may be blocking your Internet connection (error 110). Additionally you could try to change the currently used proxy settings. Can anyone tell me what to do?
Turned out McAfee was surreptitiously blocking it! Hope this helpe some people!
ReplyDeleteWhat can I do to reverse this?????PLease help!!!!
Deleteim logged in with my facebook username, would i have to reset my facebook password? because i already tried that and it did nothing, gahh this is soo frustrating, i just want to listen to my music again!:( please help me:)
ReplyDeleteThank You so much abt McAfee settings an step by step.. FINALLY WORKED!!! Ur the best!!!
ReplyDeleteI just got it working ! What i did was activate McAfee and then press Firewall , then settings and then restore default. Done ! Im so happy right now, my error was 101.
ReplyDeleteNothing is working for me. At all -.-
ReplyDeletenothing works.... how I hate spotify right now
ReplyDeletecan't wait to be stuck with my parents on boat trip for two weeks without music or internet
This sucks. Same issue, no resolution.
ReplyDeleteThanks to this message board my problem has been solved. McAfee was the problem. I had an outdated McAfee subscription and was am using AVG virus protection. If you are using AVG or similar downloads, simply uninstall McAfee and restart your computer and it should work. Did for me!
ReplyDeleteI have ZoneAlarm. I tried everything above and nothing worked for me.
ReplyDeleteWhat worked was to remove spotify from zonealarm secured list and then add it again.
I Hope this will help someone :)
******************* THIS WORKED FOR ME! ******************
DeleteI'm pretty convinced this is a firewall issue. Kill your firewall to test if that's it. Totally exit program. Snooze it did not work.
I have tried everything BUT I FOUND A solution....
ReplyDeleteI solved it by: deleting a virus program called: McAfee from my control panel and it WORK :D
I hope it was a help
I get (Error 412)
ReplyDeleteHow can I solve this??
First I'm logging in with facebook,
ReplyDeleteI just had to change "firewall settings" (from hyperlink in "no internet connection found" message from HTTP to Autodetect.
THAT WAS IT! - works great now
I have tried everything, I have tried unchecking the box, I've tried going through the firewall settings, I don't have McAfee on my computer, I have even tried getting pissed and spamming the log in button. Nothings working
ReplyDeleteTry turning your firewall off as in completely EXIT program. Snoozing my Zonealarm didn't work but EXIT did. Now I at least know it's something in there. Next I went through the programs listed in Zonealarm and removed all the BLOCKED ones. This is not dangerous as it will re-ask when something wants access. Now I'm restarting everything and when spotify installer or program comes up I say YES, Allow it to Zonealarm. Worked for me as I had something in there blocked on accident. Good Luck!
